Ielts Listening — A1 Moving Truck Hire

It was 7:00 AM on a Saturday, and Priya’s phone buzzed with a reminder she had set two weeks ago: “Call A1 Moving Truck Hire – confirm booking.”

“Great. Our smallest truck is a 3.5-tonne Luton van. It’s £45 for the first four hours, then £10 per hour after. Plus a refundable deposit of £200.”

“It’s diesel. Bring it back with at least a quarter tank, or we charge £25. Also, check for damage before you drive off. Any scratches not listed on the form, you’ll be liable for.”

“A1 Moving Truck Hire, this is David speaking. How can I help?” a1 moving truck hire ielts listening

She hung up and looked at the rain starting to fall outside. The bed frame was still in the van outside. She had 90 minutes to unload it, drive to Miller Road, and get the A1 truck.

After giving the details, David confirmed: “Booking reference: AMT-872. Pickup between 9:45 and 10:00. Late return fee is £15 per half hour. Any questions?”

“No problem. Do you have a current driver’s licence and a credit card for the deposit?” It was 7:00 AM on a Saturday, and

As she pulled on her jacket, her phone buzzed again. A text from A1: “Reminder: your truck hire from Miller Road starts at 10:00. Bring your licence, deposit card, and proof of address. Late returns subject to fee. Drive safely – A1 Team.” Priya smiled grimly. At least the bed would survive. Whether her sanity would was another question. Questions 1–5: Complete the notes below. “No—thanks, David.”

There was a pause. Keyboard clacking. “Saturday is busy… Let’s see. I have one returning at 9:30 AM. But you’d need to collect it from our depot on Miller Road, not the High Street branch.” Plus a refundable deposit of £200

“Yes, but the ramp is manual, not hydraulic. And we don’t provide blankets or straps. You’ll need to bring your own.”

Priya grabbed a pen. “Miller Road—got it. And what about fuel?”

“That’s fine. Is it available today? I need it by 10 AM.”

“Sure. Name, postcode, and the last four digits of your licence number.”

“Hi, I need to hire a truck for a few hours. Just a small one—for a double bed frame.”
