The Abu Dhabi International Building Code (ADIBC) 2013, based on the 2009 International Building Code with local modifications, became mandatory for government projects on October 1, 2014, to ensure construction safety. The code, including specialized mechanical and energy standards, is implemented by the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) for all emirate construction.
