It’s a psychological thriller. Ichigo’s despair, the betrayal, and the shocking return of the Gotei 13 (Rukia stabs Ichigo with a sword made of the captains’ reiatsu) is incredible. The bulk of the "Soul Society arc." This season is a tournament-like structure where Ichigo fights every major captain.
