“Daichi” PDF metadata significantly improves SAR processing accuracy. We recommend automated PDF parsing for large archives. Figure 1: Displacement map (interferogram) – see attached

This paper presents an application of the Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS, nicknamed “Daichi”) Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR) data for monitoring land surface changes. We processed Level 1.0 and derived PDF-based metadata reports from the Daichi archive. Results indicate a ground displacement of 12 cm/year in coastal regions. The PDF data sheets provided critical calibration parameters. Our method demonstrates the value of open Daichi products for geohazard studies. We recommend automated PDF parsing for large archives

The ALOS “Daichi” (2006–2011) provided unprecedented L-band SAR coverage. While raw data is distributed in CEOS or GeoTIFF formats, accompanying PDF files (observation parameter summaries, calibration certificates, and quick-look reports) are often underutilized. This paper aims to integrate those PDF metadata into a processing workflow.
