Days Gone is not a revolutionary game. It is a Ubisoft-tower-clearing checklist mixed with The Walking Dead melodrama. But it is executed with such heart, such mechanical ferocity during the Horde fights, that you won't care about the repetitive missions.

Using the Focus ability (slow-motion) with a mouse feels like cheating in the best way. Headshots on Runners (infected wolves) that were once a panic-inducing spray-and-pray are now calculated, satisfying eliminations. For the purists, the PC version has full DualSense support (adaptive triggers work via USB), but the M&K support is implemented flawlessly.
