The rook glows once, faintly, in the dark soil. Somewhere among the stars, a girl smiles. Post-Credits Scene: A little girl in a different city finds a dusty board game labeled Zathura in her attic. She opens the box. The silver rook is inside. She picks it up.
“You’re still my brother,” Danny says.

Danny touches him. Walter’s frozen form cracks, and he gasps back to life. “You came back?” he whispers. “You hated me.”
The house lurches. Stars bleed through the windows. The living room rips free of Earth’s gravity and tumbles into an asteroid field. The Twist – A New Player: A third game piece appears on the board: a silver rook . Before the brothers can react, the front door slams open. A girl stumbles in— Lena (17) . Walter Budwing (22) is home from college, distant and cynical. Danny (17) is a quiet high school senior who still collects meteorites and stares at telescopes. Their parents are away. The house feels smaller, emptier.
He presses the button anyway.
The board whispers: “Player two, press the button.”
“You were right,” Walter says. “It’s not just a relic.” She opens the box
Danny screams. Lena breaks down: “He’s not gone. He’s stored . The Void is a prison between games. I’ve seen it—every player you ever forgot, frozen mid-scream.” Danny insists on rescuing Walter. Lena refuses at first, but Danny reminds her: “You’ve been running from that square for a decade. Maybe it’s time you finished your game.”
