The thumbnail was wrong. It wasn't the iconic poster of Gibson and Glover. It was a single frame: Martin Riggs, shirtless, standing in the rain at his trailer, but the lighting was off. Too dark. The rain looked like static.
And in the corner of the photo, written in faded marker, was a URL: ok.ru/lethal_weapon_original_cut

He pressed play.
Riggs was sitting in his trailer, but it was daytime. The famous mud-stained sofa was pristine. There was no beer bottle. Instead, he was staring at a photograph. The camera slowly pushed in. Alex leaned closer to his monitor. The thumbnail was wrong
It was of Alex.
When Alex finally got the nerve to boot it up an hour later, the desktop was clean. No browser history. No bookmarks. Even the recycle bin was empty. Too dark
Then the screen went black. The computer shut down completely. Not sleep mode. Not a restart. Dead.
The volume, which he had muted, cranked to maximum. But instead of Eric Clapton’s guitar, there was only a low, subsonic hum that vibrated the fillings in his teeth.
But on his nightstand, where there had been no photograph before, was a single Polaroid. It was him, at eight years old, in the Ninja Turtles pajamas. But standing behind him in the photo, out of focus, was a man in a soaked gray suit, holding a Beretta 92F.
The photo wasn't of Riggs’s dead wife.
