Rune Factory 5 is the latest (and gloriously messy) entry in the beloved “fantasy farming” series—a game that operates on one simple, beautiful rule: Why not both? The Plot: Amnesia, But Make It Rural Fantasy You wake up with the series’ trademark amnesia (it’s a rite of passage, like catching a cold) in the small, struggling town of Rigbarth. After a heroic-yet-accidental rescue of a local ranger, you’re recruited into SEED, a peacekeeping organization. Your job? Protect the town, explore the nearby dungeons, and—most importantly—revive the local dragon-shaped “Rune Guardian” who just so happens to be a grumpy, sleepy deity. Rune Factory 5
