To empower Sophie’s rebellion, the witches needed to complete a Harvest—a ritual where four young witch girls (including Sophie’s niece, Monique) would be sacrificed, only to be reborn with immense power. Marcel had stopped the last Harvest, leaving the girls’ souls trapped. When Klaus helped resurrect Monique, the witches’ power surged, and they began assassinating Marcel’s vampire guards one by one. The first bomb dropped: the child was a hybrid, growing at an unnatural speed inside Hayley. Jane-Anne was killed by Marcel for her defiance, but before dying, she revealed the secret that would ignite a war. The witches, led by the ancient and terrifying Regent Sophie Deveraux (Jane-Anne’s sister), had a plan. They had engineered the baby as a weapon. For the baby was a loophole—a new hybrid, born of a werewolf and a vampire, whose blood could create a new line of hybrid slaves. But more than that, the baby’s birth would break an ancient curse: it would allow the witches to reclaim their full power, tearing down Marcel’s oppression. And Marcel wanted to either control the baby

The family seemed united. Klaus, Elijah, Hayley, and Rebekah held the baby. They had defeated Marcel, broken the curses, and taken back the compound. For a moment, there was peace.

The season ended with Esther standing in the compound, alive, as Klaus whispered, “Hello, Mother.”

The werewolves were a broken faction. A century ago, a witch cursed them to turn into wolves every single night , not just on the full moon. They lived as normal humans by day, but at dusk, they became savage, mindless beasts, stripped of their identity. The curse could only be broken by the moonlight rings Marcel had stolen—or by the blood of Klaus’s unborn baby. Hayley, a Crescent wolf herself, fought to free her pack.
