The developers have weaponized the save file corruption trope. As you progress through 0.4.9.5.2, you realize that the game’s AI director has been systematically erasing NPCs you grew attached to in previous versions. You aren’t solving a mystery anymore; you are witnessing a digital funeral. The “ghosting” is literal. Every friend, every quest-giver, every romantic interest slowly fades into static. You are left alone with the console window. Which brings us to the “thrilled” component. One would assume isolation leads to boredom.
